ACYO Partnership Program Kickoff Featuring Vahe Berberian!
On the evening of September 16, 2011, the ACYO Central Council hosted it's very first fundraiser through which it launched the ACYO Partnership program, and gave it's guests a few laughs along the way.
At 7:30 PM the doors to Geragos Hall were opened to over 100 guests that were eager to eat, drink, and be merry. The hall filled up quick and at the stroke of the hour, the program commenced. This event was special for many reasons, one of which was because we were able to honor one of ACYO's very own, Joan Meymarian, a long time ACYO member, Chairlady of the Ladies Scociety at St. Gregory, Pasadena, and a member of the Parish Council. Joan was recognized with a framed plaque of recognition for all of her years serving the ACYO and the Armenian Church. The Central Council is truly blessed to have a role model such as Joan, and remembering what she said in her message to us about patience, and the love for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we too can be like Joan, a faithful servent of the Church.
After honoring Joan, Der Avedis Abovian introduced the ACYO Partnership Program...
The ACYO realizes that as it's active youth gets older and becomes mature adults, they no longer have as much time to dedicate to the ACYO. Through the partnership program, the Central Council aims to turn these alumni into partners of the ACYO. With a pledge of $100 a year, all those who can no longer be physically present to support the ACYO, can now do so by becoming official partners. With yearly $100 pledges, the partners can aid in putting on future events such as the Sepetember 16 Comedy night.
Der Avedis concluded with inviting everyone to become partners of the ACYO and made way for our main event of the evening, Mr. Vahe Berberian. The one man show sent our audience into a laughing frenzy for over an hour and twenty minutes with Armenian Comedy. At the conclusion of the evening, our audience filed out with smiles on their faces, a new sense of dedication to the ACYO, and having eaten a darn good meal!
With love and good vibes,
The Central Council :)
