Dear friends and family,

On behalf of the Western Armenian Athletic Association (WAAA) and the Armenian Church Youth Organization of the Western Diocese (ACYO-WD), we would like to invite you to participate in the 38th Annual Armenian Summer Games. In the spirit of the Armenian Summer Games, this year's tournament is themed "Let's Get Together." This three day extravaganza will take place in Fresno, California at Clovis North High School from May 22nd-May 24th, 2009. The Armenian Summer Games is open to all Armenians, therefore, if you have an Armenian parent or an Armenian spouse, you are eligible to play. The tournament will be divided into three age groups: a junior group (10-12), a high school group (12-17), and an adult group(18+). The list of sports include: basketball, volleyball, tennis, ping pong, track and field, backgammon, and dodgeball.

Registration for the tournament will begin on Friday at 5:30pm. Please approach the registration booth to receive t-shirts, tickets, and information regarding the games.  Immediately following registration will be the opening ceremonies. Basketball, volleyball, and track and field will begin after opening ceremonies and last until 10:00 pm. No social event will take place Friday night, as athletes are encouraged to rest in preparation for the following days' activities.

Saturday's events will begin at 9:00am and end around 7:00pm. At noon, booths will be setup to sell drinks, snacks, and desserts throughout the rest of the day. Lunch, which is complementary for all athletes, will be served from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. After the games, everyone between the ages of 12 and 17 is invited to attend a youth dance at St. Paul Armenian Church. The dance will last from 8:30pm to 11:30pm and admission is $15.00.

On Sunday, Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Paul Armenian Church from 10:00am to 12:30pm for all those who wish to attend. Sunday's championship games will begin promptly at 2:00pm and last until 5:00pm. The tournament will conclude with a formal banquet held at St. Paul Armenian Church. The banquet will begin at 7:00pm and admission is $35.00. An award ceremony will be held at the banquet followed by dancing.

We hope to see all of you there,
